A Brief History of Panorama City, California

 


Panorama City, California is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. It is located between Van Nuys to its east and North Hills to its west. It was established by the very first plan communities during the 1940s, and is significant part of the larger Los Angeles area today.

The region now known as Panorama City was once home to the Tongva Native Americans. Following a visit by Spanish missionaries who were exploring Mexico, European settlers began arriving in 1845, when it formed included in Rancho the Ex-Mission San Fernando. After Los Angeles officially became a city in 1850, the area was included in Los Angeles County until 1915 after which it was annexed to the city of Los Angeles.

Despite its lengthy time in the city, the majority the character of Panorama City's appearance is a result of the 1940s' development efforts of businessman Henry E. Huntington who passed away shortly after the implementation of his plans. The highly sought-after housing developments attracted many across Greater LA including defense workers during WWII with savvy marketers offering homes at as low as $100 and low monthly installments with no credit check in some instances. In 1946, the Hughes Aircraft Company also opened the plant next door that brought more jobs for the local area, which continue until today.

The design of these projects included lots of parks and recreation facilities that residents could enjoy beautiful landscaping and lots of green space . It remains visible today, especially in the vicinity of Sepulveda Basin Park and Recreation Area located at Lake Balboa Park which offers people jogging and biking trails and golf courses, sports fields and more! The area has also seen an increase in investments in recent years, with new stores opening along Roscoe Boulevard. Other luxury businesses are appearing on Woodman Avenue such as restaurants and spas as well as boutiques that give this area distinct flavor of its own.

Today, Panorama City might be more well-known lately due to popular TV shows like ABC's Modern Family or love it or hate it MTV program Jersey Shore because of the many famous residents however it still provides excellent quality housing for single professionals or families looking to have access to everything LA offers, as well as looking forward to continuing positive growth in the coming years.
